Marlayna Zachary, Principal
Marlayna Zachary began her tenure as Blue Hole Primary School Principal in January 2025, after four and a half years as Assistant Principal at Jacob's Well Elementary. Mrs. Zachary earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialization in Early Childhood Education and has 23 years of total education experience, serving in many roles throughout her career as a teacher and instructional coach in Hays CISD and Austin ISD prior to her time in WISD. In January 2024 year, Mrs. Zachary was named the 2024 Region 13 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).
Mrs. Zachary is married to her husband John Zachary, a chef who serves in the senior living industry as a dining services director. They have two sons, Colton and Corbin.
Katie Willard, Assistant Principal
Katie Willard joined the Blue Hole Primary administrative team beginning in the 2025-26 school year. She has 20 years of educational experience, most recently serving as Assistant Principal at Copeland Elementary in Houston (Cypress Fairbanks ISD). Throughout her career she has served in many roles, including as a teacher, instructional coach, testing coordinator, children’s ministries director and as assistant principal. She has a bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Mrs. Willard and her husband Nick have four children, one in college and three who attend WISD schools.
